I’ve always wanted to get paid for doing what I love, so I’ve decided to outsource my wine habit to the vintners of the world and you! Starting April 1st, I’m going to drink a different wine everyday for the rest of 2009, post a short video, take multiple pictures throughout my day and blog about it. Days are sold at “face value” so if we were starting on January 1, it would cost $1 and December 31 would cost $365.
However, this brainstorm just thundered into my head in February and I won’t be ready to launch until April 1 so I am adjusting the “face value” accordingly for 2009. That means that April 1, 2009 is $1 and December 31, 2009 is $275. What a deal! In 2010, January 1 will cost $1 and December 31st will cost $365, to reflect the actual “face value” of the calendar. Again, really simple, but effective. You ship me your bottle of wine and I drink a glass while promoting your business, event, new product launch, etc. As of this writing, clients include wineries, regional wine magazines, a wine blogger, painters, a sculptor, a midwife, art galleries, a wine country on horseback tour operator, a photographer, and a girls roller derby team. This promises to be an interesting year!
If you don’t want to pick a wine and ship it, I can purchase a good one for you. We charge just the local purchase price of the wine plus a $5 handling fee. You can request something specific and I will do my best to get it, as long as it is available locally. If you would rather leave it up me to, I am happy to pick out one of my favorites, just specify a price range. This is actually not a bad way to go, as you can avoid the hassle and expense of packaging and shipping, though most wineries will do that for you these days.
What do you get for the day(s) you purchase?
- Daily Video on my home page & YouTube
- Daily Photos on my home page & Flickr
- Daily Posts on my home page & Twitter
- Featured in weekly calendar w/link to your website
- All of these with me featuring your wine and information about you, your company, your wine, your winery, upcoming events, new releases, etc.
- Massive exposure on the ‘net. All videos, photos, etc will be categorized and tagged with your business name, the wine name, variety, vintage, etc, making them search engine friendly. I also plan on geo-tagging all photos and video
- First 50 participants will be given priority in choosing dates for 2010
- Early adopters get all this for a ridiculously low price
Feel free to include any other fun stuff with your wine: ie - logo shirt (X-large), your company branded decanter ball or even your custom bedazzled wine tote. Whatever you send will be featured in the video, photos, etc. And don’t be shy about signing up for multiple days through out the year. At these prices, you would be crazy not to!
I expect this to be most appealing to wineries, but you do not have to be a winery to participate. I will gladly sell days to just about anyone who is willing to pay the fee and send me a bottle of wine. Maybe you want me to wish your Grandma a Happy 100th Birthday and toast her with an exquisite Mouton Cadet. Maybe you want to promote the opening of your exclusive new day spa in Palm Springs. Maybe you are just feeling kind and generous. It could happen. The possibilities are endless. Book your day, ship me wine and other cool stuff, and I will promote it.
Bonus! I would love to come to your winery, vineyard, tasting room, crush pad, event, whatever! I’ll bring my video camera and document the whole trip. Have someone special you want to appear in the video ~ your marketing guru, your winemaker, your top sales rep, your niece the supermodel? No problem! My schedule is pretty flexible, so contact me for details.
Payment is due when you sign up for a specific day. I accept checks, Paypal, Visa and MC. If you are shipping wine, it must arrive two weeks before your featured date. Sorry, no refunds if your wine doesn’t arrive on time.
Ready to purchase? email me or call (509) 948-3643.
