Trio Vintners, Walla Walla, WA

I had a great time chatting with Denise and Steve from Trio Vintners in Walla Walla, WA. Their partner Tim Boushey couldn’t be there, but I hope to meet him next time I am in Walla Walla.

These guys have a great concept; reasonably priced single varietals in small lots. We tasted the ’06 Mourvedre and it knocked my socks off. We even poked a little fun at the iconic Gary V and Denise showed off an actual rock from the terroir that produced the grapes for this particular Mourvedre.

Next time you are out tasting in Walla Walla, be sure to make it out to Trio Vintners in the incubators at the back of the airport. Well worth the trip.

Kestrel Vintners – Prosser, WA

Today I am at Kestrel Vintners in Prosser, WA. I start by chatting with Asst. Winemaker Dirk Brink about the ’06 Mourvedre they have released. The charming accent is South African, and the wine is just plain excellent.

I also speak with Carlos Trevino, Director of Hospitality about the Salumi Salami and exotic cheese selections they have in the deli case. They will be featuring these in the upcoming Sip and Stroll events on Friday nights. A number of wineries just off of exit 82 in Prosser will be taking part in these events. Kestrel is choosing to call theirs Flights and Bites on Friday Nights. Love it.
